Exec Positions for 2012/13

Its time to vote for our new exec!

We have our exec vote in week 10 of term 2 and anyone who wants to go up for a position tells us in week 9. Its not particularly formal: in week 1o, we take each position one at a time, the people who want to go for it come to the front, give a quick speech on why they think they deserve the position, members ask some questions, and then we vote. Simples.

All exec members are involved in the many areas of Adhoc, in particular the running of our sessions, so don’t feel like if you pick one position, it means you won’t get to be part of whatever someone else does. We’re quite a hippy exec, one big family sharing in the love and all that.

The positions available for next year are:

President

Il Padrone. El Presidente. The Big Cheese. The BOSS. The President is the person responsible for managing all of the other exec, being at all Adhoc events and meetings, always knows whats going on and is in charge of the super big projects, like the Adhoc trip, competition and sponsorship.

If you want to apply for this position, you will need super-dedication because you will have more Adhoc hours than anyone else. You have your hand in everything and, just ask Ellen, that’s a lot of stuff to hold.

If you want to find out more about what its like to be an Adhoc President, check our contact us page and get in touch with our current president, Ellen Dwyer.

Nominations:

Robyn Williamson

Vice-President

VP is the President’s right hand. They also have their hand in everything and are there to support the President when he/she turns insane and sits rocking in a corner murmuring “No… no more adverts.. Please… I just want a cookie… no mummy no…” This also means that you will be just as responsible for big events like those above, attending everything and knowing everything. Its just like the president… but a little bit less work.

To apply for this position you will need just as much dedication, time management, organisation and enthusiasm as the president because you will have a ridiculous amount to do too though, again… just a little less than the President.

If you want to find out more about what its like to be an Adhoc Vice-President, check our contact us page and get in touch with our current vice-president, Robyn Williamson.

The Adhoc Designer is in charge of creating all of the logos, flyers, posters etc that any societies want made. This is a big job because often there will be several societies demanding things all at once and by certain deadlines. It ain’t easy.

To apply for this position, you will definitely need a basic knowledge of some photo editing software (paint not included) and a passion for design.

The assistant designer doesn’t need to be as photoshop savvy as the head of design but will need to know the basics as they are there to help out the design exec when the workload becomes a bit too much!

Account Manager

The Account Manager is a new position this year. The AM is the one who contacts all the societies who want to work with us, finds us societies to work with, organises the meetings with societies we are working with and then takes the ideas to the society afterwards. You would effectively be the person hand-holding the society through the Adhoc process and so would need to maintain good communication with them.

For this position you would need to be very organised, be good with communication and management and know how to handle any socities that get a bit TOO demanding. You would also need to be one of those people who constantly check their phone/email/fb because you will constantly have societies contacting you :P

If you want to find out more about what its like to be an Adhoc Account Manager, check our contact us page and get in touch with our any of our current exec. We all do it!

Secretary

The Secretary is the Organisation God/dess. They book all rooms we need, take the minutes at all of our meetings, send out our weekly emails, contact the SU officers with any queries Adhoc have and basically make sure the Adhoc machine is running smoothly. The whole society would effectively collapse without you.

For this position you need to be the most organised of organised people and someone who enjoys the more admin side of things. We depend on our sec, and so would need to be able to depend on you.

Publicity & Communications

This person is charge of all of Adhoc’s social networking: our Facebook page, website, Twitter, Youtube and so on. They are also in charge of any work we do outside of the society, for example collaborations with other societies and our marketing and advertising networking events. In case you are confused, the difference between the Account Manager and Pub & Comms is that the Account Manager works with the people who want Adhocs services directly, while Pub & Comms works to make sure Adhoc have a large presence with other socities and organisations, whether that be through events or collaborations.

To apply for this you need to know about social networking, but not on a massive technical scale: you just need to know how to use them. As for the website, believe me, its incredibly simple and even if you know nothing, we will teach you all there is to know :) You also need to be pretty good at PR style management and have a good deal of initiative in promoting Adhoc elsewhere and finding organisations for us to work with.

Treasurer

Mr/Mrs Moneybags. This is the person in charge of Adhocs finances. You would be responsible for how much our society charges for membership, how much we can afford to spend on our own advertising or events, managing any costs for trips or hoodies and dealing with all reimbursements.

For this position, you need to be able to add (and, unfortunately, subtract) with a calculator. Obviously an interest in finances and money is a plus and we would love to meet someone filled with ideas on how we can make lots of money within the charity laws of the society!

Social Secretary

The party animal. Our social secretary is in charge of organising our weekly social events and – as we don’t like to poison our livers every week – needs to be quite creative in coming up with all the different things we can do. You will also work closely with the other exec on any events that they are working on. You will also be in charge of making sure PLENTY of embarrassing pictures end up on facebook :P

For this position, you need to think of yourself as a pretty sociable person and be bursting with creative ideas for great trips that we can have. (Its a bonus if you own a camera and facebook account)

If you want to find out more about what its like to be an Adhoc social sec, check our contact us page and get in touch with our current social sec, Derin Coker.
